The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends breastfeeding as the sole source of nutrition for your baby for the first 6 months of life.  Once solid foods are added to your baby’s diet, the AAP recommends continuation of breastfeeding until at least 12 months. Check with your child’s doctor about vitamin D and iron supplements during the first year.
